Jan,
This last photo really brings home the change of times 1967 was. Those 3 older style sedans, with the Queen approaching her new chariot in the middle of them. Wonderful photo!

Jan!

When was the last time you were on the Campus of ISU?
I wonder if the buildings have changed much.

Sorry, but I can't help with any details about WISH TV in Indianapolis. I know they're still in operation but I have no contacts there. I believe this photo was one of their news promos.

I worked at WTHI in Terre Haute, Indiana. The station was owned by Tony Hulman (the 500 originator) and I can remember talking with him the night Jan was crowned queen. "Where do you work young man?" he asked.

"I work for you, Mr. Hulman, at WTHI in Terre Haute." I replied. This was followed by an awkward pause then I don't remember what else we discussed.

Hello everyone, just signed on for the first time myself...I've been reading your posts now and then as Jan has pulled them up for me. I'll have to say, this has been on very interesting time with the opportunity to return to Indy and see the race and then to have Jan get so excited about all of this, scanning slides and photos and talking so much about this Web site and forum.

I've already commented on what little I know about WISH TV in Indianapolis. As for any film of any of the events related to 1967, I'm going to see what I can do to contact the station and hope first that they still have them in storage and second that they might make them available. I'm afraid that all of my direct contacts are no longer at the station, but I still remember a few names and I'll begin to track them down.

Jan's done most of the work pulling out our slides and photos, so I'll see what I can do through the TV station. Remember, we were owned by Tony Hulman and always received top press passes. Some of our folks also worked the race as time keepers and announcers on the radio network.

You're an incrediblde bunch of people to have such an interest in an event that many of you never saw in person.

Randy,
This website is haven for those of us who love the 1967 Camaro Pace Car and all the different aspects that surround the Indy 500 race. We are dedicated to finding the truth and to learn as much as we can. Thanks to Tony H, Tom M, Phil for making this happen.
Having such a prominent superstar of the Indy 500, "the Queen herself" and you as her escort (Oooops, I mean King Randy!) Wink join this group to share your experiences with us has been the highlight of this website. We hang on your every word and hope for any little tid bit of information that could produce some first hand documenatation or photo's that might show us something we have never known before. I have enjoyed this thread immensily, as you and Jan also have these last few days. Thank you and welcome to the site! Big Grin

Randy.. That would be great.. Anything you can do would be appreciated even if its just enough that we can cross some things off our list, meaning if you contacted them and confirmed the old file footage was destroyed then at least we'd know.

I'm sure that's not what she only meant! Smiler
