Got here Thursday to get a good lay of the land. This looks to be carnival, not an auction. They are expecting in excess of 10,000 people, parking and motorhomes are parked up to 5 miles in each direction. Doesn't look to me like there are enough food vendors or porta pots for even 3500 people.

With that said, this will be a once in a lifetime event, and glad I made it here. Will take lots of photos and report in tomorrow night. Here are a couple take out front of the old store. The inside is a disaster, lots of stuff still in there. They should have cleaned it up and charged people to walk through it.

Several film crews are here at the auction site. It's 3 hours till the sale starts, and the tension in the crowd is building. Tonight, (Saturday) The History Channel has a show filmed here the last few days called "History Made Now, Wheels of Fortune". 8pm and 11 pm eastern, 7and 10 Central times. I am interesting in seeing how they report this. I have spoken with many locals, and have the low down of what, why, and how this all came to be. Have to get going but will leave you with a couple amazing photos. The 58 Cameo is truly in the wrapper. Just to view it made it worth the trip. So many markings and production stamps never seen before, and it is truly new. The photos do not express the fresh gloss the paint has.It belongs in the finest collection or museum in the world.

cowl under hood driver side. Notice the paint is slick and shiney all the way under, and the exhaust pipe is factory painted with gloss black paint that has never burned off.

I have taken over 500 photos, and have hours of work sorting when I get home.

Report in later, headed to the sale block.

One last shot from yesterday. I was schmoozing with Yvette Vanderbrink, the Lady of the hour that owns and operates Vanderbrink Auctions. Very nice person.

I am amazed how many no mile cars got left out side. Amy idea from the locals why he did not sell some to pay for space to keep them. Cool that he saved them but sad he let them root away.

Lee, I got a lot to talk about how and why this happened, but it,s 2:30 in the morning, just getting in, and have to be back at the auction in 5 hours.

Did buy 2 today, a new 64 C-10 with 6 miles on the mso, and a new 79 Impala with 4 miles, also on the mso. On the way back to the hotel we stopped by Lambrechts Chevy store so the 64 C-10 could see home foe 1 last time. Had been 49 years since it was at the store.

I was interviewed by Tanner Faust after being a losing bidder on the first 2 trucks, the Cameo and the toilet paper green 58 step side. Was really down after missing both those trucks, but regrouped and bought a couple others I had picked out on the list. Here's a couple photos for now.
