Visited Fri. 6/22 to check on how things going. Sterling has the right quarter roughed-in. Work is still in-progress to smooth everything out just right...

6/22/12: Trial fitting sheetmetal to see how it looks all together, and where more attention required... this will be the first of probably many trial fittings.

Starting to get warm out here; about 110 degrees Friday... pretty soon it will start getting hot...

Update from the body shop 7/20/12. Sterling has had a couple other projects going, so I've been on hold for a couple weeks.

We are a WAYS out here... Aviation marker:

Sterling is hanging the doors, hood, decklid, basically anything that opens and closes, and setting the gaps... Rebuilt door hinges, open & close sounds really solid!!

This is amazing though still work in progress (not quite done yet). Sterling is re-fabricating the upper edge on quarter panel so it matches the original contours and lines up properly with the decklid. We found that after sandblasting; this corner was out of line with decklid. Repaired Collision damage and so-called bodywork in the 1970's basically built up the corner with plastic filler to make it line up...

This is what it looked like before sandblasting... Notice all the cracking and chips in the bondo...

Left side quarter panel also is roughed into place, but I promised Sterling I wouldn't post up any pictures 'till he gets a little more time to work on the welds, etc. and pretty things up. Regardles-- I'm getting stoked-- Things are looking good!!!

MORE TO COME...

Charley! Here is how I can tell you are in GREAT shape so far with this guy.. I circled the two areas where I can plainly see he is metal working the fit between the door and the 1/4 or the front fender.. You can see by the way the metal is worked he is attempting to get the panels to line up better than original.. If I was a betting man I'd say this thing is going to look amazing when you sight down the side.. I'm happy for you!
