Take your time. Thats what good about the car hobby.. You can stop for a while and nothing changes. If you owned a horse it would cost the same but needs to be fed every day.. Wink

Charley...life gets in the way. I am going through that myself. As Tom said things can wait. Elliot at Knoch's has not responded to anything, i.e. phone calls or emails. Sorry still have not sat down to respond to emails from you about the carpet color. They STILL have my original carpet/heel pad from my car. I either want it back or a new carpet kit.

Hey Charley,
You have done a lot already, so take your time with the interior. Some things are better not rushing into just for speed sake. It will look 10 times better waiting and doing it right. The interior seems to be the important part of the finishing touches anyway. When people gaze at the interior and don't see 8 different shades of blue or when they ask you "Is this interior the original?" You know you did it right! yea

Not to trump the latest on the thread, but the dash looks Great!!! I have two orig cores. One I will take an offer on and the other I would like to have redone. Can you pass on the fabric make and color? Maybe I can get them both redone at the same time???

A brief post to commemorate 2-year anniversary (ARRRGH)... Unfortunately not much new info. since project still on hold (hopefully not for much longer).

Obtained MacNeish certification in January (work in progress) & also got to meet Larry Christiansen, while both were visiting John's shop... got some really good advice, and positive feedback on the project. Looking anxiously to having more time to follow up on it...

In lieu of any other new info... offering a rerun of earlier posts from page 1:

Couldn't resist following up previous post with this. During February-March I made it my objective to get car back ON THE ROAD again and get behind the wheel once again to remember what it felt like.

On second thought, I guess there was one other major development back in January... THE COMPLETED ENGINE CAME IN! --just in time for MacNeish inspection. Commented the engine was PERFECT for the car... you can bet I loved hearing that!

Nice first

I have owned mine too about 14 years now.

Sadly I have not done a thing.

It's still drivable and complete which I can enjoy from time to time.

Your doing an amaZing job on your car. Hang in there a break either big or small won't harm. Cheers

Hi guys. I've been having some work done on my car lately but ran into a snag. As for the years I been collecting original sheet metal for my car and sending it to the second auto restoration facility. and paying them a healthy amount of money to put on new quarters with knowing I was not happy with the first shop I went to.. I get my car back last week and none of the door seams line up nor does the trunk lid as it is askew left and right and up and down when it is closed. I am beyond pissed off. but will send picture soon.. as a side note.. do we know of a fella by the name of Bruce Wanta. he has a car that is an L-78, 4 speed like mine from Bellevue Washington. he was at the Northwest concours show last weekend.. and claims to have a car that was in the Indy 500 back in the day. I have his phone and e-mail but have not called him yet..
Yes.. I really working on my car.. thanks

Hello folks! ...Breaking radio silence for a brief update. Can't believe how quickly January has turned into September...

As Mike Rossi said above-- "life gets in the way". And although busy beyond COMPREHENSION the last several months-- from time to time, I've also been confronted with unplanned occasions to reflect upon life's fragility and what is really important. Oddly, some of these occasions have also prompted long-forgotten memories. Realized I am actually owner #7-- not #6 as I originally described (see pg. 1). Another recollection coming to mind was Dave Sapp's story about Merle ( https://camaropacecars.com/eve/...733/m/337108082/p/15 )...

I've come to some key decisions recently. Several weeks ago, decided to take this project off "hold" status, and proceed full speed ahead!! As Larry the Cable Guy would say: "GIT-R-DONE!". Sorry no pictures yet (hopefully soon). I've not had any time to visit the shop since giving the go-ahead....

Another decision: endless delay in search of technically perfect carpet vinyl, is not one of those things that's "really important". So we will be proceeding post-haste with the 'least incorrect' off-the-shelf upholstery & carpet identified to this point (some of which would be final anyway).

I'm not giving up the search entirely. But, my rationale is that things like door panel carpet & vinyl, etc. will be relatively easy to replace at a later time when we find something that's "just right". So, a forewarning to folks following this thread for the secrets of the carpet vinyl universe... sorry, I'm putting that on the back burner for now.

More to follow, soon as possible... regards everyone/Charley
