Here is the sample from the original carpet from the GM books and the vinyl sample from Knoch's that I am referring to. The vinyl pictured was very close to the original GM books as well. These were compared to the original door panel piece from Tom's car...and are a very close match.

The GM sample from the '67 book and McGinnity's door panel. These samples are from '67 Pontiac books, but were a dead on match to original pieces.

To all here:

Let's try and get a head count of guys looking for "correct" carpet, door panels, and dash pads. I'd like to give Knoch an idea of the potential sales from getting things closer for the 1%er's like us.

Hi Guys,
Even though I don't have a Pace Car I still like following this thread. I see all kinds of different shades of Blue that gets posted and thought what would the samples in the 67 GM Dealership Album look like. There were two samples of Vinyl in Bright Blue for the Malibu and one sample for the Nova. They look identicle on the Bright Blue color. It amazes me that with all the manufacturers out there no one can get the Bright Blue color all you guys need. This is the Nova Super Sport sample.

Hi Tom;

INDEED a quandry... One would think it should be so straightforward... and the manufacturers should know (& have!) the right stuff!!! I'm posting a couple pictures below underscoring the nature of the problem, i.e. There are several slightly different colors & styles of vinyl used on the 732-Z interior and trying to get them ALL correct is like looking for a wiener mobile in a snowbank. The big problem is getting the carpet right... the upholstery I think (hope?) will be less of a problem(???). I think part of the issue is manufacturers catering to people who are not so detail-oriented as ourselves; who want all the colors to match, and are less concerned with CORRECT NON-matching colors...

Picture 1 below; notice the diffs between the door panel itself and the edge banding on the carpet (disregard the samples)... in the second picture: note the diffs between the door panel carpet banding and the FLOOR carpet banding... 3rd picture; shows UPHOLSTERY vinyl sample (Knock Interiors) with an original 732-Z seat (IMHO the upholstery vinyl looks exquisite and I'm just about sold on this)

P.S. Still LMAO from your comment on the snowbank picture yesterday... Tried to think of a comeback but just gave up

Also P.S. to all-- HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Hi Charley,
I sure wished we could find good pictures of a Pace Car's interior taken back in 67 when the Camaro was new to see what these colors looked like, instead of pictures 40+ something years later. I always wonder about fading and darkening from age. I know that is all we have to go on for now, so trying to match everything up to look new is really tough. You are doing an awesome job of researching and Mike is commended on talking to the manufactures to get the vinyls and carpet colors right. Without people who care like yourselves the manufactures wouldn't know what the difference is from correct versus just ok. Great shots Charley. It really shows the color differences.
