From what I have been told, there was not a four core radiator in a big block in 1967. Three core only. I put a four core in my red car and lost points for an incorrect radiator. FWIW

I think Gary is correct.. but right or wrong I would consider the 5 black clutch fan and the longest thickest rad considering where you are.. plus I don't think your shipping your car to Maryland..Gary what fan did you have?

Sorry got to clarify:
No 23" four core in '67.
Technically there is no "heavy duty cooling" option, option V01 was "heavy duty radiator" option and affected radiator only. The K02 temperature controlled 5 blade fan/clutch was a separate option and did not come with the V01 HD radiator. So the festival cars had both V01 and K02 ordered separately. If you ordered V01 on a small block SS you got the 23" 3 core (that already came in the big block). If you ordered a L-78, Z-28 or C60 Air conditioning then the V01 and K02 were required options (no COPO in '67).
K02 fan had no affect on fan shrouds, there was a small block fan shroud for the 21" and 23" radiator regardless of fan. All big blocks got 23" radiator so only one shroud for them whether you had the K02 fan or not.

P.S. Tom the P/N on that fan is too late for it to have come on the car from the factory.

GREAT discussion and once again I am both amazed and grateful for the wealth of knowledge that people "in the know" are so willing to share. THANKS (& please keep it coming!)...

To answer a couple questions posed in this series so far and also pose a couple of my own...

1) Keith, if the D72 = April 67 week 2 interpretation is correct this seems to put the date right on??? But I have no idea what the 915595 part number represents? It is not listed in the CRG white paper Mike & Tom sent... and I've been unsuccessful finding it on the web...

2) Tom, are you suggesting the Allen carpet might still be out there somewhere? or is this anecdotal info.?

3) Mike; the motor picture with alternator on wrong side is the 350 small-block (out of a '69 Chevelle) I installed in 1976. With the big block, alternator was on driver's side... I remember extending the wiring harness to the other side when I did the engine swap... also as mentioned above, no idea what the 915595 part number represents...

4) Mike & Tom, great points about the K02 fan option. The CRG paper suggests it was ordered on only a very small number of cars. But Tom also correctly pointed out it gets kinda hot out here (today it was 110), so probably these were more likely to have been ordered in warmer climate areas such as mine? Further, Mike indicated it could also have been dealer installed? Maybe that explains the weird part number? All of which proves absolutely nothing-- but it does lead to some interesting speculation...

5) Gary; wondering how many points the 4-core radiator cost you? as so far we are going that route... but (Tom) there is always the possibility I may want to come back East to a points-judged Camaro show, at least once, no illusions about winning best in show, but just being able to say I've done this once in my lifetime...

6) Also Mike & Tom D.; thanks for the CRG link... somehow it slipped my mind to inquire there... TONS of info. but very very slow to digest...

THANKS EVERYONE... what a great bunch of guys to get connected with!!! regards/charley

Couldn't find much on that fan either. I don't have any of those fancy part number books. There is one on ebay right now with the description:
"68 69 70 Corvette Camaro Vette LT 1 GM 5 Blade Clutch Fan gm 915595"

We shouldn't be losing any threads with recent times. 2006 probably gone, I've paid for more space so that things may close but they shouldn't be deleted.

Yes I posted the carpet tag just for info. Allen Industries is dust in the wind, nobody is making anything in Compton anymore.. not even payments roll. Might be a nice tag to reproduce for all the LA IPC owners though..

Boy that was a tough read... all that Norwood research already in 2005 - getting in the way of the push for hobby standardization.

Tough days indeed. Frowner

Bill & Tom & Phil, thanks very much for the archived info...

Question: Today visiting the shop I saw some examples of 4-blade fixed fans from John's parts collection. One looked exactly like the picture Mike posted on p.23. The other looked just like the 4-blade fan pictured on CRG site. NEITHER ONE HAD ANY PART NUMBERS OR ANY OTHER MARKINGS. Is this typical???

Here's the one like on the CRG page:

Here's the one like Mike's picture:

Fans are VERY similar, but if you look close the first one has much more well-defined curves & stamping in the fan blades... the one below, while similar, has softer curves that are not as well defined...

yeah, I know, pictures are from the back side...

Also to add: Current thinking is; get a 4 bladed fan for show use... for "driver" use go with the 5-blade clutch fan

P.S.: Updated views of carpet welting on P.23... though results inclusive... more to come...
