Newspaper clipping posted here in the forum years ago listed Landon as issued car #23. If that is correct and the parade car he is riding in is the same car - then it is an 03-C enamel car And we own it today. Phil@camaropacecars.com

Exactly. Place your index finger directly over the hood and the top of the fender on the car issued to Dan Blocker. At this point both cras look the same. Position of the sun in the sky and the angle of reflection providing the Max # of reflected light photons to your eyes thus makes this portion of the car seem brighter in the photo. Phil, Was Dan Blocker's (Hoss) car also 03C? When you say Micheal Landon was issued car 23, does that mean he had the car to use exclusively all montn, and drove the car during his time at Indy, or was the car used just for him to exclusively ride in in during parades? The latter would have left a lot of extra time for someone else to have been driving the car to different functions. Being a lifelong Bonanza fan, (earlist memory of watching it is in 1959) any of the "Cartwright's" cars would have to be extremely special in my book.

Basically we are proving that different pictures from different times ( even different states ) taken by different people with different cameras of the same vehicles created contrasting color enough to fool the eye to think one is brighter than the other when they are the same tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)

Actually #23 was assigned to Eugene Hibbs. Chevrolet and Festival 500 guests tagged along in different cars depending on event....This happened because Chevrolet scheduled the cars for different duties depending on availability. Lorene Green was in #2 during the Festival Parade but in the Parade of Stars (coming in the speedway race day) he was in #21. Hoss and Little Joe were also pictured in different cars.

Tony, I recall something somewhare linking #23 to Landon, and I also recall the Hibbs listing also. What do you have? I know all is speculation at this point. For example if Green was in #21 in the parade of stars, (and the cars lined up in order by assignment number) then Blocker would be #22 and Landon #23. Phil@camaropacecars.com

I'll have to check Phil....But I believe you are right.... The Stars were escorted in a few different cars....And!! If they ended up with a car for the weekend or for whatever their length of time their stay demanded, they probably would of ended up with one of the many Brass Hat cars or a Zone car. There is a story that Conner told me about Hoss's car "was missing for a while" and it turned out to being parked behind a night club! The manager called the Speedway after noticing the car for a couple days....The speedway connected them to the Pace Car room and they found Hoss's missing rig! Apparently there was some "partying going on" and Hoss needed a ride from that club. The guy that he thought would fetch the car for him ended up flying out at the same time Hoss did and the car slipped between the cracks for a couple of days! That might of been #55! Their are a ton of cool stories like that! God, I wish we could find the Assignments!!! I could link a few stories to different people and then,in turn, they could be tagged to the cars forever!

If here is a museum for this guy and he's been dead a long time it just won't be a busy place...I bet they will take the time to listen to your questions etc tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)

Tony, You being the POC on this topic, who was assigned to the #3 the car I'm getting? Secondly, what happened to these cars when the show was over? I understand most of these were sold as used cars? Were they sent back to the Dealers as demos? Are there any pics of this car floating around when at Indy???

Number three was Assigned to Mrs. Alex M. Clark. Her plate number was 93C663 I'll have to check my pictures to see if I have one of her in action!
All the cars were sold as used cars according to the Zone guys that I spoke to. Some were held over for demos for both the Zone and the different dealerships that sold them. We have tons of pictures of the cars during the Festival but next to nothing after June 1, 1967
