What A nice suprise. Just got home and found my December MUSCLECAR REVIEW in the mailbox. Leafed through it quickly and saw a piece on the top page of the "up front" section with a couple of pictures of a newly discovered '67 pace car and the heading "Rare Pace Car Found." Had to check that out ASAP! Reads:

"Our freinds at Camaropacecars.com who helped us with the "Secrets of the '67 Indy Pace Car" story in the Aug. '08 issue, have unearthed yet another suprise. One of the club members, Doug Riedel, turned up a '67 Camaro pace car with a 396ci/350hp (L34) big-block. For years, Camaro historians thought this variation was never produced - even though the RPO was mentioned in the car's assembly manual and other Chevy literature. But Riedel's car is the real deal and likely the only one. The photos here show the car as it was found and in the midst of its restoration. Visit the club's website for more updates."

Very COOL!!! Cool Cool Cool

So congratulations to Doug, and to Tom of course for the original Aug. article. Way to go guys!!!

For those that may have seen the "up front" article, here is a link to the thread about Doug's car.

It would seem to me that Drew has found us reliable starting back a while ago with Phil & Pat having dealings and then with our article from 08' Drew is open to hearing things new and I try to grab his ear only when I feel its important.. This car IS just that and we are working on the cars history right now. I'm hoping and praying for more on this puppy! Thanks to Doug R for his open attitude and sharing spirit.. He's a methodical guy that really wants to ring the towel dry with whatever info still remains or can be discovered about this awesome car racer

Its also great that he's a long term owner with real patience on the matter...that gives us the time needed to really dig deep Cheers
