I sent the following question to the seller, I'll let you know what I hear.

"Do you have a communication from Chevy stating they are doing this? I haven't seen any press releases or anything similar. Can you share where you got the information?"

Saw that one this morning on e-bay.Have not heard anything from GM about them producing 250 replacas. The only things I read on this car were that there were three and all the graphics are painted on and there is no vinyl used anywhere on them. There is supposed to be one on display in the museum at Indy Speedway????Would be a mighty task to produce 250 replicas if all the graphics are painted on?How many of these would be used as festival cars given the fact there is no convertible yet?Hard to see it justifyable but would be nice.Look back at some of last years Camaro pace cars, the car was moved from track to track and just had to have the door decals changed each different event.I cannot see it being much different this year until the convertible is available as a festival car.

If those cars do exist, they will be just like last year, hot for a few months then cool off quick. A few folks will pay top dollar to be one of the first to get one and the rest will wait patiently for them to come down and then buy the leftovers from the dealers who can't get theirs sold. I don't think the hot will even last as long as it did last year since New Camaros in general are much more plentiful than they were at the time of the Indy 500 last year. And don't be expecting any replicas to have "painted on" graphics, that will NEVER happen in todays world of stick on graphics. I will be surprised if they even have the complete stripes, probably just hood and deck stripes just like you can get from the dealers on any Inferno Orange Camaro. They will still be a cool car and a nice one to own!

Cool. (I would rather have a festival car.)

Let all those folks willing to pay big bucks have the dealer cars. I will wait for a deal on a real festival car. Smiler

I still have not seen anything that makes me beleive they are making replica's. Has anyone seen a press release or heard anything?

I agree with IndyzDanny. I bought my festival car only after refusing like three (I'm sure Lee can give the exact count!) down for crazy prices until I found mine. Now if the Festival cars somehow turnout to be convertibles this year, I will defintely want one!

I agree. Likely the same thing they did with the transformer edition. It looks a little like the movie car but uses production level cosmetics.

Here is what the dealer has to say about why no one is aware of these:

Dear indyzdanny,

Annoucement has only been made to select dealers. I will ask Chevrolet where they will make the public annoucement and let you know.

Told me he had a Power Point presetnation from Chevy but they weren't allowed to make it public, yet. I guess putting the car on eBay doesn't count as public hammer

$30,000 and the reserve hasn't been met yet. Eeker

The seller is not very consistant in wording of their ad.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Stonebriar Chevrolet of Frisco, Texas is excited to announce that we will be receiving ONLY ONE extremely desirable 2010 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car Replica!

Only 250 will be built. They will be built in April 2010 for May 2010 delivery.

The bidding will start at $500.00 over the MSRP price to be set and announced by GM.

A $5000.00 depoist will be required at the close of the auction. In the event we are unable to deliver the vehicle the deposit will be refunded".

Down at the bottom of the ad, the seller says "Manufacture date and delivery date are subject to builder General Motors. Bidding will start at the projected MSRP price from GM".

Personally, I can't imagine bidding on an amount over the MSRP without at least knowing a suggested MSRP. Chances are, a person could find a better deal from one of the other 249 dealers receiving one of these cars.

Yeah, but then you would not be the FIRST guy or gal on your block to have one!!! That must mean a whole lot to those bidding!
