When I was about 6 my dad sold his Z11. I cried as it got loaded on the trailer and pulled away, I can truly still feel the pain of that dreadful day. It was in pretty rough shape though, and I guess there wasn't much he could do with it at the time. Trying to raise a family in any generation isn't easy, and through 10 years of marriage and 2 beautiful kids, I'd sale everything I had to support them, so I understand why it got sold. But there will always be a desire to, if not own but to at least see this Camaro again. I hope it's still out there. I would really love to find it.
I live in Columbus Ohio, and I'm wondering if anyone out there knows a Columbus cop that bought this Camaro out of a backyard, back in 85'or 86', I'd love to hear the story.
BTW, I have the VIN# from an old registration if that could help in any way.
Lots of members from Ohio and surrounding states.. Post up the VIN.. Maybe a Santa Clause type guy will step up and run it.
Great story. my Dad had a 65 Chevy Pickup that was MINT MINT when I was young.. He's not a car guy but drove it for real for a while ( maybe 1977 or so ) Its had all us kids names pinstriped on the back. One day he up and gave the thing to my cousin who'd just got his license... what a sting. I feel your pain

OK, here's the VIN, 124679n62854. We're pretty sure this is the VIN to the car,but he had one other 69, which he was sure was in my moms name ,so I hope this is the right one.
It looks like you're missing one digit in the VIN after the N, there should be 6 digits. It should be 124679N******.
Unless you had two convertibles you're on the right track since the part you got right is a 69 V-8 convertible built in late March or early April based on the 124679N628*** part being correct.
Can't do carfax, gotta have a 17 character VIN. As soon as I tried I remember I tried to look up an older car before and could't for this reason. It was a good idea though.
I just seen your post. The car you talk about is here in MI. I have owned the car for the last 10 yrs. and is still under restoration. When I got the car it was just basically a shell. It was put back together with original and NOS sheet metal and painted in lacquer. I am trying to restore it as close to original as possible. Do you remember what kind of options were on the car? Do you have any pics of the car you can post? Was your dad the original owner of the car?
