Hi Guys,
I came across this 67 SS RS Convertible Camaro for sale on eBay. It is not in Pace Car colors but the trim tag is definitely a Big Block LOS Pace Car. Only $29,000

eBay # 200543954892

Thank you for noticing this auction. The owner was told a few years ago in no uncertain terms that this is a car that had a Pacecar trim tag screwed onto it.. he is careful not to call it a Pacecar as it is not but we may soon have a very disappointed new member who buys this car and thinks he scored...

He didn't Frowner

We do list this tag on our registry but the car is long gone it would seem

I saw this car in Albany. It is a LA pacer cowl tag mounted to a Norwood built body. If anyone still struggles with what happened here, send me a PM.

In a perfect world that did not involve money Chris would get the hidden VIN and re-title the car to it... He would then archive the Pacecar Trim Tag and VIN..for posterity

this will never happen as the Norwood bodies Trim Tag & Body Number have been lost to history. Also there is a distinct possibility this car is a hot box

I suggest anyone buying any classic vehicle to check that the hidden VIN matches the VIN on the door jamb. Chris may not have known the car was a rebody when he purchased it, but he was aware after I looked at it and let him know.

If anyone is local to the car and could confirm the owner has corrected the hidden VIN issue at the cowl, please let us know.

When I purchased the car, I did notice that the cowl and VIN tag had been removed for a restoration. I had seen it before on other Camaro's, it was not a big deal to me.

Even David Parson's [David Parr] pace car's tags were off of his car when he purchased it in California.

When I found out that a Norwood cowl was used to replace the LOS cowl for rust reasons, I did go back to the sellers house and retrieve the factory cowl pieces.

I had them professionally grafted in so that the NOR numbers would no longer be there. It cost me more than I wanted to spend on this car, but it made the car right again.

The owner/restorer that sold the car to me did not know he was breaking any kind of rules when he used those other pieces - he was as honest as the day is long.

I welcome any inspection of the car, the numbers do match the cowl, it is difficult to see in photos, but the old panel was grafted in. If someone wants to put putty on the other side of it, they will come up with the cars numbers, I promise you.

Thank you for your interest in the car. I am not trying to push it off to anyone because of it's history. I am confident that the car was not a rebody, I have old photos of the car in white with blue interior before and while being restored. I believe that it was just a case of the wrong panels being repaired. The correct panels are back in it now. If that's a big deal to anyone - than it's not the car for you.

It is just time to sell it. I hope the new owner enjoys it for what it is, it's a nice clean original Camaro that may or may not be an original pace car.

_Christopher

Chris, your car has sparked some interest on the pacer site. If you could show documented pictures that the hidden VINs match the door jamb tag, it might help you get a better price for the car. My car is complete from late last fall.

Chris thanks so much for stopping by. I can tell you one simple thing...

If you take the time to pop off your wiper arms and unscrew the cowl and post a picture of the hidden VIN as well as post a picture of the original shots with the car in white & blue onto your eBay auction someone will very quicky press the Buy It Now button for a 29K pacercar... I'm betting if what you say is true then this car is all but sold! Good luck

Tom, I have taken those photos, you can't see the vin from the upper side. You really have to lift the numbers from the other side, you can see them in reverse if you use putty.

The photos of the car in white I will have to scan in. I'll add them to the cardomain site when I get them scanned.

Best regards,
Christopher
