I've decided to start a new thread about certain parts that I see on ebay.
The title to this thread represents the only logical reason for someone to try to list something at an unbelievable price!

THEY HAVE TO BE HIGH !!!!!!!!!!! Mad

First off.... you guys are going to love this one! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Tony, Tom,
This is not a guy. Its a company called Heartbeat. I saw this 2 days ago after I saw an antenna mast NOS for $900.00 as well. I think what he's doing is getting people so jerked off at the asking price. He's gambling that they will call and then offer him a lower rediculous price. I think I'll call it
Heartbeat Jerk City!! Stay away from these guys and let you friends know that too.
By the way, I scrolled through thier entire (most of) stock. And 98 percent of everything was - You guessed it $900.00 !!
Tom, we need a gremlin that looks like a freaking stupid idiot Big Grin LOL

That guy has been around for a while. It's a look and laugh business. And there is one main guy or a .......nut case. Yeah that's it. Somebody I know wanted me to go check his place out in Michigan when I was back at a show. My responce was. What? Are you nuts? Can you imagine what that guy is like?...... I guess there are the lazy that pay what he asks. I don't know any of them though. You have to wonder what his standard percentage increase is to what he has paid for a part. It must be like 900%

He must be catering to the super rich where money is no issue. How else could he be asking those ridiculous prices? If he gets a bite then he scored.
Then the rich guy can say "We have spared NO expense" to this restoration. Cha Ching! All I have to say is he has the right parts though. So if you can afford him and your wallet is deep enough. Go for the plunge!

I am told he was buying original lo Mile Z-28's only 10 years ago. I am also told He then parted them out and sold them piece by piece in hemmings and on the WEB. Later He then sold the tubs and titles back to people looking for a resto project.

Without question the prices are high. When you want US made quarter panels from the correct mold, having the correct jamb shape, he is the ONLY guy to go to. Sad but true.

I have a feeling there may have been some problem with who ever did this guys listings. I looked over his list of 300+ pieces of first gen items, and there is just too many items that don't add up.
Repro trunk gasket $900
Repro Speaker grills $900
Restored rear view mirror $900
2 sets of door edge guards $900 each, but then another set no reserve for $14.95 first bid. (I hit these)

But then look at the 67 Heartbeat convertible 1/4's, $900 for a pair, that looks like a very good price to me. I thought these were $700 each everywhere. link to 1/4's auction

Maybe worth a call before we finish this lynching, just to see if there was a mistake on some of these items. I am going to call today. $900 for repro trunk gaskets seems kind of high for even these guys.

I have never bought from him, but I sold him a couple pieces a few years back, and I thought he paid me good money. He bought the stuff on eBay, If he is getting $900 for each piece, then I was a chump. Maybe I will be a chump again and ship him a couple more boxes of stuff. Wink

Geoff,
You might be right, he has stirred up interest about those listings. Whether anyone buys or not, he has people looking. I never thought of it that way......

That would explain at least this set of listings... I've seen some pretty crazy prices on his auctions in the past, that first made me think that, maybe, he was burning them down! Big Grin

If the add generates a phone call on an auction, and a sell is made during the call outside the auction, then the eBay fee is avoided.

Perhaps these are simply "commercials" and the price is a way to make sure the auction closes without a sell occurring.
