Riveted ones were better back when I was wrenching. I would guess the originals were rivited, aftermarket started going to bonded to lower costs in the 80s I believe.

I understand that bonded is the only way the shoes are made now. If the car will not be shown with the brake drums off I'd go with bonded as they will be easier to find and cheaper.

ed, on ebay there are nos riveted brake shoes. ebay #130512449645 they will probably go to $200-250 or you could put on cheap 35.00 shoes.

I have been told and assume true unless you guys can prove otherwise that brand new Camaros had bonded shoes from the factory but all rebuilders riveted new linings to used shoes for replacements.. therefore correct is bonded.. we'll see

I dug through some stuff and came up with this set.. No box date but pretty old.. the shoes are surely new and the linings are bonded and labled GM. they are a funky green hue with what looks like clear coat?

This set I think is newer date wise but the weird part is that the shoe metal is plated not painted and also seems to be brandy new.. The linings are riveted... Made in USA..

never easy. will need to compare these to survivor car shoes I guess and use whats closest to that

Being DELCO I would suspect these are vendor service parts for dealers and regular shops

I would guess if it was delco shoes they would be new.Dont think they did any recon shoes, leave that to the aftermarket, that would splane the new metal parts. Also when i worked at dealership 99% of the shoes we see were for wear and therefore were aftermarket, the only time I see delco stuff was warrenty!I may be wrong but thats what I remember.
