I'm going to the Indy 500's 100th Anniversary Pace Car Reunion.. My car has been " finished " for 2 years now and its time to start pounding down the punch list that has steadily grown since then.. I'm pretty sure I don't want to break down at the event checkered flag

First order of business. I was told I installed my A-frame bolts in backwards. I went to pull some bolts off my junker but they are in the way I installed mine... So the first order of business is to figure out if I'm right, wrong or it doesn't matter because the boys on the line had the option confused

Here is a picture from my piles of Pacer picks,, I think Larry Kline might have owned this car once?

Interesting.. So I think I won't do anything for the time being on that one but would appreciate more input from anyone and which way the bolts go with cars they own...

So with regards to the gauges: bouncy tach.. speedo not working then working... amp gauge dead, temp gauge dead and of course clock dead.. My plan: take them out and send to Bobs Speedometer to be checked out... I'll report back on the service I get from them. Once that happens I'll reinstall and if somethings not working I can look to wires, senders and cables for the answers.. and hopefully there will be some amount of accuracy with the gauges Roll Eyes

When I was rushing to finish the car and the NOS steering box I had leaked like a pig I was forced to steal the box from car #78.. I'm replacing the box again to keep things even and tried my hand at restoring this baby to look somewhat legit.. Its a little shiney but should dull down in a few years.. Not bad for a drivable car Big Grin

Gary Bieler will be glad to hear I have a correct voltage regulator coming and that I swapped out the gold cad repro battery clamp with a more correct one I phosphated myself.. I hear tell originals had the letter B stamped in them? is this true?

Tom,

I'm also planning on coming that way. Most likely for just 2 days. Jeb might be coming but he will be in the process of building a BRAND NEW 3 stall body shop. (jeb owned) Going to be his own man !! Its going to be awesome.

Hopefully when hes done with my full restore and I show it off to you guys another member will want Jeb to do restore on their pacer.
Tom we will have our own full time restoration guy whos a member.

By the way my car is coming along nicely. Really Really glad we did a frame off as there was some hidden spots with a few rusty holes. Now they are fixed !! She going to be sweet !!

I am really hoping I get a chance to come out and meet a few of you guys at the reunion in may. It sounds like it will be a blast. Like Sappy said it will be during my down time this spring?summer as I am building a new shop. It is gonna be pretty big. Should be able to be working on 3-4 cars at a time comfortably. big enough to fit a paint booth in too! Man am I excited for spring. The only thing that will suck is that I have to take a break from Sappy's car as the construction takes place. Hopefully everything goes smooth and quick. Gonna be awesome haha

Tom

This is a pic of my drivers side during the disassembly of my pace car. The heads are toward the front, nuts on the back. It is a Norwood Big Block car. Sappys is an LA BB car. This could be a difference between the two assembly plants.

Interesting.. Thanks Doug.
Could be the plant.. could be a guy that wrenches righty Vs. a guy that wrenches lefty.. confused

More input from other guys will help checkered flag

This is my car just after I pressure washed it to death.. In all fairness though it is obvious the lower a-arm bushings were replaced so it can't count as definite
