Was putting the top up and closed the drivers door and heard a little thunk. When rolling the window up the rear had dropped. Looked into it today. Rear mount is broken and window had slipped behind it. I recall noticing that this was funky when I looked inside the door many years ago. So I'm pretty sure the window has just been sitting unsecured on top the channel/guide all these years. Decided that since I had the panel off I'd fix it right this time. Well apparently this is never supposed to break. Did a cursory check on the net and haven't see any for sale. So does any one know where I can get one or possibly have one they'd sell me (driver's side)? Mike L.

Well have done lots more looking, an elusive part for sure. I found this thread of someone with the same issue and a place that lists them but had none at the time. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=194001 I may just need to see if can get mine welded. Anyone know how or have tips on removing the mount/frame from the window? Mike L.

Send me a regular email as a reminder so tomorrow at work I can see which junk doors I have and whats in them for parts.. I slip a small blade screw driver right under the rubber and slowly pry it up and keep working it slowly..once it starts working its way out of that channel it'll release easier and easier until you can pull it out with your hand.. It's a risk to remove the glass especially if its original.. welding soulds like the cheap and fast way.. Hows about Andys mechanic? they weld there yes? tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)

Sprayed a little WD40 on it and was able to wiggle it right off, back to front. Have a guy we use at work for welding, going to see if he can fix it up for me. See how that works out and will let you know, thanks Tom!!! Mike L.

Well one of the Stutz Bldg. guys welded it up for me Monday (ironically J.B.,,, get it J.B. Weld). Welded the bracket back on the the channel and the tab that the window bolts goes through as well. Put the channel back on the window Tuesday, and dropped the window in the door yesterday and got it all adjusted up. Some of the adjustments were wacked (especially the stationary H track that mounts in the middle of the door. It was all the way at the bottom of the slot, I could see in blue over spray pattern where at one time it had been near the top of the slot. I think this made the rear of the window too low. When rolling up the window it would hit the front stop way before the rear and this must have put stress on the rear bracket and caused it to fatigue/fail. Got the window all adjusted so it was proper height front to rear and then adjusted the stops so they hit at the same time. Window has never gone up and down so nice!!!!!!! Also pulled the door latch mechanism out and cleaned it up and lubed it. If you'd lock the door and pushed/pulled either door release you couldn't unlock the door. The actuator bracket that the outer door release button pushes on relies on gravity to return it to place. If is doesn't return to place it blocks the lock mechanism from going back up into the unlocked position. All the grit and overspray and dirt from the repaint all those years ago was binding it up. Best to use a light lubricant like WD40 on that actuator as any heavy lube will tend to bind it a little so it won't fall back down into place. So now my window works great and I can lock the door if I want and not have to worry about it not unlocking. Small victories!!!!!! Mike L.

Nice! Yea window aligment is a whacky concept.. I seriously cannot fathom how these guys lined the windows up so quickly on the assembly line.. they must have had total awareness of the entire gig after a while.. Great for the locks I know EXCACTLY what you getting at! tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)
