Does anyone have a picture of where the negative battery cable ground wire screws to on the passenger fender ? My GM replacement fender that was put on in the early eighties has like a tab with a hole in it not a hole in the side reinforcement like the ass. manual. I need a picture and a measurement maybe from the header panel back ?? Thanks, EDV.

Ed,
I don't have a measurement for you, but it is right near the tab you are talking about. The hole should already be there.

Ed, small tip; punch the hole with a center punch instead of drilling it. This gives you more surface area for the screw to bite into.

Tom,

My negative battery cable has no return wire to the fender. Could this be why my gas guage is not working properly?

I don't think so.. the sender is grounded near the tank. If the gauge itself was at fault I would imaging all the gauges would be affected.. does you car have full gauges or the big fuel gauge in the speedo pod?

Look to see if someone just routed that wire wrong during the cars life like I did. that ground grounds the front light harness and then some..

If youre gauge reads past full the wire is broken or pinched some place.Comon problem.
