The 4th generation Camaros have a plastic support between the front fascia and the radiator. Over time, this support turns from a dark gray (almost black) to a light gray.
I have seen some owners paint this part black, but I always felt that takes away from the originality of the car. If you have experienced this situation on your car, what have you've done to try and correct it?
Bill, I'm wondering if this occurs because of the heat from the radiator. That might explain why yours doesn't show much fading.
I've found using Meguiars Gold Class Trim Detailer will bring the color back, but it has to be reapplied from time to time depending how much the car is driven.
It's not the greatest picture because of my shadow, but it does give you an idea of the difference it makes. I'm curious if anyone else has found anything that works better. I've tried Mothers Back to Black and it helps, but not as well the trim detailer.
My '93 has just over 50,000 miles and it looks presentable (not great/not terrible). Thanks Peter, I'm give your product a try. Otherwise I think I'll put it in an air conditioned bubble (Not!)
While we are on the detailing subject: I have never been happy with any of the unpainted cast iron, cleaning products I have seen used. My main concern is with the look of the exhaust manifold. I now use a product known as Calyx. Easy to apply and brings the look back to 'as new'.
