RPOZ11, I'm assuming you're asking about Van Nuys built cars and not vin #s, correct? If so,the only facts I know for sure are,None of the Van Nuys built pace cars actually participated at the 1969 Indy 500 in any way, only Norwood built cars had that honor. Also only the Norwood trim tags have the Z11 designation. The Van Nuys cars do not. Sorry I can't contribute more.

I was never inquiring for VIN's so no, that was not my intention.

His above is showing the N thus not a VN car.

Im just curious on what findings have been confirmed on these cars, earliest made cars, or whatever.

I've had mine 1984 and have only seen a handful of BB VN cars in person over the years.

I think I have seen earlier cars than mine but I had never kept that info to look back on.

How late were these cars made out here at VN?

Never see much of anything posted on these.

I've been kind of keeping a data base for Van Nuys cars. I have 22 Z11's in there and 5 Z10's. Would be happy to add any others if anyone has them. One of the interesting things is that if you figure Van Nuys Pace Cars were made at the same ratio as regular production Camaros in 1969 (only about 1 in 8 Camaros were made in Van Nuys) then you can figure that there were only about 450 Van Nuys Pacers built.

Hope you don't have any Z10s in your LA database, cause none came from there.

Any 50A 720 coded interior convertible made at LA is a pacecar.

Yeah, that what I've heard. I shouldn't call them Z10's. They are just coupes painted Dover White with Orange Houndstooth interiors made during the time that the Z11 cars were made. Sorry for any confusion.

Sure would like to find one of those though. Would be neat to look at.

No, you're correct with the Z10 designation. Mark is saying that no Z10's were built at Van Nays.

So what's the earliest VN PaceCar so far on your list?

I have never seen any of those around here in a coupe.
The closest one I ever saw out here back in 1982 was a Z10 with orange interior and I lifted the hood, unbeknownst of that owner-at that time, and saw the trim tag with the Z10 on it.

Most of the weird or off cars that have any significance, from what Ive seen in my doing these cars, were either out in the San Bernardino areas or San Diego county cities.

San Diego always had something odd to find more often than LA.

I did see a 1 Pace Car Truck down in SD once with an Orange paint stripe around the front fender area.

Funny thing is, no one has found a Z10 with an Orange Houndstooth Interior yet.

I saw it and that's what tempted me to risk getting in trouble to open the hood on it to see if it was real. I've never seen another one.

It was real!

Back then, none of us really ever thought to keep data.

If any of us knew the future on the importance on keeping that info, we would have done it.

There were a few of us hard core guys (Dyer, Dodd, Merle DuPree, etc) digging for parts back then, one was an old VN employee who always had the rare parts.

Anyways, had I known that that DATA was going to be needed, I most certainly would have wrote it down.

Gotta give props to HOOPER and that Evergreen Press guy for exposing & starting the ideas to take in that data and record what GM had done.

That is how I got that Z10 B tag.

We started to notice what people were looking for.
