being an 04B 4P 2LG it could even have been born an L78! Eeker

They did say it doesn't have the original engine.

I hope they don't screw it up like I did to my 69 Chevelle SS396, where I should have left it original...

Looks like Bruce knows he has a very special car
I think the restoration is going to be stock with a big block motor. The car is already at the body shop. He will post photos of the car next week...stay tuned

Bruce should check out a few items to see if it could be an L78... Probably not, but there's always a chance as we know of a few early 04 4P 4 speed cars that appear to be the real deal.

Some of the guys on here know what to look for.

The rear axle code/ratio is a good place to start if its original.

Also, if you can supply the VIN and body sequence numbers some of these cars were batched and this may lend some light to as what he has....

Hi - I'm new to this site. I finally got over to the body shop to get a photo of the trim tag.

WOW... I would love to see the tag with a bit of that paint removed, would be easier to see all of the details.

I wonder if it has the 'ole splash of white under all of that surface paint reaction.

Did the tag and firewall get sprayed with lacquer and then get a topper of enamel?

That would explain the paint reaction part of it.. Big Grin

Hi and welcome... I'm VERY curious as to hear more about this car and of course the VIN to check the fit... Can we see the rest of the pictures of the car?

Did you just get this car? Who put the trim tag on ,you or the person that sold the car? You have to find out quickly why the tractor feed hole is so huge!

Phil. I think the whole cowl was sand blasted.. that looks like paint over pucker marks to me, not bad adhesion or repelled dissimilar paint..the pattern is kind of consistant with moving a smaller sized sandblaster nozzle around..

Tell us the circumstances with all this Bergy!

Very cool. Can't wait to see the whole rig Cheers

Tom,

I agree on the sandblasting marking, but I also see paint reaction there too.

Hey guys - my understanding is that this is a 350/295 car based on the "4P" designation on the trim tag. When I got the car, a restomod had been started on it. The firewall was already covered with one of those full "plates", the firewall windows (where you access the wiper transmission) were all covered with sheet metal, trunk was "customized" with sheet metal work. The guy that was working on it was a street rod type. Anyway, I've accepted the advice of many poeple (some on this site) and removed all of the extra "stuff" and got it back to reasonable stock condition. I'm on the road quite a lot (in Florida now) - when I get back up north, I'll try to post more pics (vin etc). Again - why is anyone talking about a 396/375 hp option when it is a "4P car?
