Check your state archives for the original owner on your car. Thats what I did to verify that it was my brother-in-law who was the first owner. If it goes out of state,then keep on it with diligence. You will probably have to find a way around the privacy act but it can be done.

I bought my car in 1998 out of Indiana. The previous owner owned the car from 1975-1998.
The state of Indiana purged all their records right before I bought my car. Just my luck!
