Hey Steve, Here is a cowl tag for you to look at. It isn't as impressive as your Black SS/RS. I like seeing these highly optioned cowl tags.

Here is an interesting cowl tag for you cowl tag aficionado's. Something is just not right about it. Do you see what I see? What didn't big blocks come with?

Even I can tell thats bogus. Using shiny silicone on the rivets wasn't smart tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)

Tom, If you saw what I did then you get a Gold Star for the day! Or at least a nice cold one! The problem I saw was that the cowl tag code for a big block shouldn't have Air Conditioning, which this Camaro does! It's got Pacer colors, but with a black top instead of white! This Camaro is on eBay right now #190432064926This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tom D,

isn't 11c a little early for 4n?

You could be right about being a little early. I have seen a Dec built 396 in a Camaro, so either this 11C is a very early 396 or possibly one of the very first ones to come off the assembly line. With the inconsistancies in the cowl tag it makes it hard to rely on it's authenticity without more documentation. I thought I remember reading somewhere that the big blocks didn't come out until January of 67. Anyone know for sure?

Tom, There is a lot of work waiting to be done on that Camaro for someone. I always wonder though just how much of the original car is left. It was turned into a drag car and very little is left of the original body itself. It would have been awesome to see the original upholstery and other interior parts as well as the under the hood. I even wonder if the hidden VIN's are still there. After some gets done replacing all the sheetmetal back to a stock appearance it comes close to a rebody with either repo parts or later dated original parts. The only thing nice thing about this Camaro is that it would be the very first production Camaro. It's a tough call. And then you would wonder how much value it would still hold having all that work done. The other thing that perplaxes me is that the month and day (09B) on 0001 is later than some other early Camaro's I've seen. I have seen some 06C build dates with higher body numbers, but their VIN's are later than 00001's. I am perplexed how that works out. Just some thoughts!

Mike, If this was a pilot Camaro or even very FIRST pilot Camaro then it would have definitely had some cool stuff hidden under the seats or carpet and had some very neat protype stuff in it to see. Unfortunately, it looks as if all of that stuff is gone when it became a Drag Car. A lot of unique early Camaro history or pilot car R & D was lost. Too bad! It is cool that it is still around though. Who knows where these Camaro's end up after 43 years. Thanks for reminding me about the pilot car program. It all makes sense to me now why it would have a later month and day stamped on it.

I came across another cowl tag with an "LS" stamped on the plate it's on the bottom of the picture. Here is another interesting coincidence, look closely at the body number of these two trim tags as well as, the month and week (06B) and also interior code (732-Z) and big block code (4N) in between the two tags! Interesting huh? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tom D,
