Hi,

Wondering if anyone knows what gear options were offered on the 1993 Pace truck?

Mine has 308's and it sure feels like it!

I'm thinking of changing them, and looking for ideas!

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

I do not think that anything in particular was "offered" you got what you got. To my knowledge buyers were not given the opportunity to order one of these trucks with any special optioned equipment....they were just built and distributed to dealers to sell ever how the Chevrolet chose to equip them. I am not sure if all had the same rear ends or various different ones.

I'm not sure on options or availability but inside the glovebox of the data sticker is the rear end code that any junkyard can cross. At that point a decent yard can also use their Hollander software to cross reference the application and tell you the gear ratio's that were available that year.. At that point you can ask them to search the data base and see if you cannot locate a " take out " rear from a junker.. they made millions of them so they command little money. ... I bet with some homework you could get an entire rear axle with a steeper & posi gearset for the price of buying new gears and setting them all up.. Plus you'd still have you original behind the shed Wink

I use my truck on the highway so its great for me.. but it definitely ain't no jack rabbit

In my opinion, the 308 gears are pretty decent. With the price of gas these days I wouldn't want a much lower gear.

I'm not sure what ratios were available on a Pace Truck in 1993, but according to the 1993 Service Manual the following options were:

  • GT4 3.73
  • GT5 4.10
  • GU4 3.08
  • GU6 3.42
  • HC4 4.56
  • HC7 5.13
  • GK9 4.63

These RPO codes do not specify which size axle these gears ratios were available in.

I'd take that 373 option in a minute!

Don't mind the gas....I'm driving it for fun!
