Received a nice package of photos from the 1967 Canadian Grand Prix that was held at Mosport. Haven't found anything earth shaking, or ground breaking, but thought I would share a couple photos for a start. Truly believe this photographer will have photos of the Festival Parade cars, but will they show the door script we would like to see, is anyones guess.
This photo is of one of the support races before the main event.

Did anyone notice in the background, the Chevy Wagon that is lettered on the doors? Would have to say this was a support vehicle supplied by Chevrolet, just like they used at Indy.

Here is a blown up and sectioned out portion of that photo that features a young John Bassett with his father, and Tony Hulman in the car that was taken at the Telegram Trophy Race the first part of July 1967.
Notice the Chevy wagon at the back of the pack in this photo, it is a 1967. This is at 67 the Telegram Trophy race. Can anyone detect if the wagon in the above photo is a different wagon? Is the one at the Canadian Grand Prix a 1968? The CGP was held much later, in August 1967.
Neat pictures anyway. In this photo you can also see some of the passengers in the Festival Parade cars were good looking young girls (in the 2nd car). At the back of the pack is the 67 Impala wagon being used as a support vehicle.

Over the last year I've viewed, exploded, and magnified several hundred photo's from the 1967 CGP, and have yet to find an area that would have been the "Camaro Corral", where the Festival Parade cars were parked after they were used at the track. You would have to think it would have been in the most heavily trafficed area available, where exposure would have been the greatest.
Here's a photo of an area of the track we have all become very familiar with. Those cars on the hill in the back and their parked positions surely time stamp the events of this day, as they are in all the photos from the CGP.

In the the 1967 MoSport Program, Chevrolet is listed as supplying the trucks for support but not the wagons..maybe an over sight or maybe the wagon is for something else??!

Great pics Steve. I truly love Mosport. I used to go there from before I was 16 years old. Typically people go and camp for the weekend. Most novices (like me) travel by car with a group of buddies, pitch 3 or 4 tents, have a bunch of beer, walk the track at night and enjoy the blarring steroes run by gas powered generators. People who arrive early on the thursday or friday get the best parking, thus best viewing location around the track. You can park pretty much anywhere around the perimeter of the track, infield or outfield. There was always a designated location on the infield for certain vehicles. I would guess around turn 1 or 2 is where they had the group of Festival Cars, in a contained paddock. People can walk the infield or outfield freely with the exception of pit areas.
While we are talking of Mosport, does anyone know why Chevy had the color named "Mosport Green" in 1966, and why green if it indeed was named after the Canadian Race track?

If you guys aren't all bored to hell with these Mosport photos, here's another from that day. One of our Pace Cars "Lil Brothers" was racing in this photo...

I really like this photo, what an odd mix of cars at the starting line, but check out the first couple rows. Camaro's, Mustang's, and a Cuda.....those were the days....

Great Question!
A buddy of mine has a 66 Vette that color...
Interesting thought!

Looks like three 67 Ford Cortinas side by side. I had one of those. Not real powerful, but in racing trim,(no bumpers & such)it would be pretty light. Andy V
