Yep! Vintage 90's Stories, Various pace car articles interviewing Matt Murphy, the pace setter ads, and people responding to Donna Crispino's and Hooper Indy Pace Car Book!!! Lots of suggestions that these Dealership "Black Nose" cars indeed existed and possibly tracked through the end of June! Rick Hexemer

OK, I copied and pasted the various dealership replica responses over to the "Let's Talk dealership replicas..." string at the General Discussion Heading. Please respond over there and we'll leave this string to just the VERY Important Canadian cars! Thanks Rick Hexemer

This is a real stretch, but if I remember correctly, the decal set I had for the 79 Indy Mustang had a order form in it, that if you needed replacements, you were to order them direct through the supplier, who was Scotchcal, 3M, or someone like that. Also had a set out of a 78 Corvette, and the 69 Camaro, but for some reason, I think the Mustang set is the ones I am remembering like this. Could the process been the same for 1967??? In any case, I wouldn't think you could have ordered these Canadian car decals, I would think Players had them made for the cars. Maybe if you smoked 500 cartons of cigs back then, and sent in the labels, they would send you a door decal for a premium

If American Pacers had a vendor address we would have surely seen one by now.. we have a dozen cars known with killer original docs.. I'm refering to any replacement INDY decal tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)

From what I was told, the decals were available through any Chevrolet Parts Department. There should of been some sort of supplement Part number memo/flyer thing a ma gig

We just needed someone like Tom and Bill to open the door. so people from So-Cal to the Eastern Seaboard and around the world could flourish and pool thier knowledge!!

I had missed this post somehow, but it was pointed out to me a couple days ago. Not living in Canada, the best way I found to collect information was to send out mass emails to every site I thought might have any information that would relate to what we are doing here. Also have been making phone calls to anyone who will listen to my requests. Everyday except Sunday's, since before Christmas I have been sending at least 10 emails or phone calls each day. Lots of replies, talked to lots of fine people. Canada is a great country just loaded with helpful people. Fred Young is one of these wonderfully helpful Canadians. He understands what we feel, but most his interests are centered around Grand Prix and Can Am racing. I am not going to mention any other names here, and wouldn't have mentioned Freds, except it was already brought up. It's so hard to start naming names, and not leave out as many names as what you remember. I wasn't lucky enough to find Freds' name on Google, had to find him on my own. BTW, this isn't the only thing I have been researching. Have been working on 5 totally different subjects which all relate to the pace cars, all at the same time. Some of the results that are in are just amazingly fresh stuff, but need organizing before release. Guess what I am saying is most of what I will post here is work that someone else has done over the last 41 years. I didn't take the pictures or look through cabinets full of drawers in Toronto or Montreal. Or even come to some of the conclusions. I'm just gathering & collecting the information so it may be shared by all here. Hopefully gathering it here will preserve all the rich history the cars that paced the races deserve. No secrets, just complete disclosure. Which brings me to this question. Mark, if you had all this information in 2006, why didn't you post it at this site? Last time I checked, there were plenty of pace car enthusiasts here.

Moving on from that post, how about some correct images with a couple new ideas? Like so much other wrong information associated with the 67 pace cars, even the photos from Mosport that we have been seeing for quite some time are wrong. They were somehow printed backwards. I have shown the previous photos to several racing historians in Canada, and they all agree, those photos that are from .net or whoever produced them years ago were printed backwards, and are wrong. From now on, these in this post should be the accepted as correct versions. I have been back working with (he's done the work over the last 41 years, who am I kidding) Fred again. I'm just a treasure hunter, the guys in Canada with the knowledge are the true treasure, I just found them. Here are some nice and CORRECT PHOTOS. These flipped versions of the photos and 60's aerial views of Mosport showing possible locations where the photos may have been taken. Notice though that from this correct view, the detail is much sharper. Photo 1, when flipped, appears to have been taken from a location across the track from the entrance to the pit lane. Photo 2, when flipped, appears to be a view of the cars entering the paddock area behind the pit garages. The photo 2 location is a guess since it is based on the location of the striped tent visible in the pace car photo and in the aerial views. The tent could have been set up elsewhere during the Grand Prix. The pace car photos may have been taken at different times on race day or on different days. Photo 1 appears to be the drivers parade just prior to the race and the other photo may be of an event/parade at a different time or day. Pure speculation Photo 1 is a trilogy of photos ![]()

If you noticed, I had to resize this series of photos. If you would like the huge version of it, the detail on the door script is much larger, but hard to decipher. PM your email address and I will forward a true to size photo of both triple combination photographs.

Here in photo 2 the perspective gets better yet. In the full size veiw,(before resizing) the door script takes real shape. I consider this a very helpful image in the full size rendition. ![]()

Here is a copy of the program from the 1967 Players Grand Prix, note it lists the Parade of Drivers at 1:15. Notice the different logos also. This is a real nice document! ![]()

This is as big as I can get the photo that I feel shows good shape of the door script. PM an email address if you would like large versions of these triple photos. They are somewhat clearer in an email than posted here. ![]()

Steve, Your the man! Now I need you to find some US Central office or Zone cars at the Grand Prix race or following the Can-Am "cherokee" pacers around! Hey, it just worked with the dealership cars, so I figured I'd give it a shot! Rick Hexemer

SSWS Super Sweet work Steve!! What exactly was done to these photos to clean them up?? The email versions are stunning!

Tony, I think some of clarity is lost in the downsizing of the photos to make them fit here at the site. They started out at 972 and 865, and ended up squeezing them down to about 150 each to stay under the 300 posting limit here.

In 1969 at the Players Canadian Grand Prix, the Parade vehicles were 1970 Ford products. (the Ford cars varied, as somewhere I have a photo of a Torino "pacing" the race) Could this Mustang be holding a clue as to what we may be looking for on the 67 Camaros? ![]()

In 1969, there seems to be the extra line of print on the logo that was not present in 1967. BTW, it did pain me to post a photo of a Mustang here.

I really think we are right on when it comes to the small blocks.... I just wish we had a better shot of the Big Blocks! The above Mustang looks to me to be something they grabbed from a dealership somewhere.... The 67 cars...well, ...there is no doubt that they were of a special breed!
