That scan of the map you have posted shows at the bottom where the pits and judges stand were. To the right of that are the 2 curves where the photos of all the 67 BB CGP Festival cars were lined up in their parade lap. From the films and photos I have seen I would think the track configuration would have been about or the same as to what you have posted here. If by "Indy Style Race", you are meaning a variation of a big oval, the answer would be no. Nice pamphlet with track shapes. That Elkhart track looks like it would be an extreme challenge. Didn't Mark Donahue campaign a first gen Camaro at Elkhart? Wasn't it also raced in Canadian trans am races?

That's Terry L's Cherokee on the 1st page you posted... A few of the 67 Can-Am cars (Jim Halls) used early design (experimental) aluminum 427's that became the ZL-1's... John Z mentioned working at Norwood for a few months in 1969 working on this package.
Terry's car was also made in June and started life as an 4K L-78, then off came the aluminum intake and on went a really cool aluminum intake with the multiple Weber carb setup that was of similar design to the actual Can-Am race cars...
I need to continue the research on his car and still have a few contacts yet to make... This message has been edited. Last edited by: RickDawn67,

had a chance to buy a cherokee type intake, 250$ a few yrs back on epay. chevy dash- casting, 5-7-67 cast date on top. was for the webers but 58ida not the more common 48ida, had square port runners.
I should have kept a pic of the intake but I didn't, sometimes you see the magazine w/ the pics of cherokee on ebay. The yellow car in the pic also has the same hood/intake, I think a drag racing car. I might have another pic from a different mag of a similiar engine set up...
From reading this thread again, we see Gorries (in Toronto) had a car for sale. Correct me if I'm wrong but Lance Hill's car was sponsored by Belmont Chev. Was it sold from Belmont? We know another car was sold from Carter Chev in Hamilton. Carter also was into racing and received one of the first 25 67 Z/28 cars. We know they were shipped to GM in Oshawa, went to Mosport for the GP. GM documents won't show selling dealer as they went to Oshawa. Ministry of Transport searches only go back to around 1972. Does anyone reading know where else these cars might have be sold from? Was GM selling them at Mosport after the GP? All these dealers are from the province of Ontario. Did any make it outside the province for sale?
David, I will have to go back and find the file with all the info in it. Lance told me he kept trying to buy his car from the older guy and wife that had bought it out of the Camaro corral at the CGP, but if I remember right, they saw it there, and bought it back at the dealership. Lance sent an email a few days ago, I'll write him back and ask a few more questions.

I've been digging up more info on these cars and found another small block car. Have seen 2 (more) trim tags and from the info I've gathered it appears the small block cars were batch built, then there was a short gap, then the big block cars were built. Considering the time factor and knowing one or 2 were stolen or totaled, we're progressing well.
After seeing the vin's I realize that I restored and then traded in one of these cars in the early 70's never thinking it would come to this.Anyway I still have the protecto plate for that car--236950.It was traded in Burlington Ont. and was painted blue by the new owner. If this is a help to someone then great!!
