Leaving the Pits

Well, temps are hitting 60-70 now in DC and time to turn attention to my blue top toy.
A few questions please:
Last fall I took the frame apart, painted it and reinstalled the thing. Had a local shop put the top on (they are redoing it for free shortly). I am having a hard time finding any type of specs for how the frame is supposed to fit to the body. I may be complaining, but I would like the option of running down the road with the top on and not having the damn thing whistle all day. Since the doors were replaced, I know I need to addjust the pitch of the glass. Top currently appears to come too far forward for some reason and doesn't want to "snap" flat until I pull on it.

Second question: Any one having the proper placement diamentions for the rear antenae? A simple measurement from the rear and inward from trunk would be great.
Thanks in advance guys.
Dave

Thats the back storage room. The main part of garage got a new floor between thanksgiving and Christmas.Lots of clutter still around becuase I've had an arm that has been whacked for the lasr 2 months!Unlike some people I park my daily driver in my garage, carpet would be very wet!!! Big Grin Car is safer where there is little activity around it too!

Thanks Larry, that is just what I needed on that one. Anyone have any tricks on getting the top frame setup? I have tried to use the back windows as a guide. I have not touched them (yet) and figured that was the place to start. My front bow was rusted and replaced it with one from Camro Central in KY.

Found a fold down back seat and couldn't resist the chance to pick it up. All the parts are due in later this week to restore it and install. Any one have some pics of the mounting braces that I need to weld into the body? Short of that I will be centering the pieces and using the seat to determine the spacing. Thanks again. Dave

I just wing it.. I assemble each rail complete down each side and ball park it to already aligned windows.. Once I think its good I add the front header.. when all seems right I install the cross bows ( this way you can move one side easy and the other side isn't connected)... after that put on the weatherstripping and start the tweaking process making sure the center area above where the door glass and 1/4 glass are does not sag ( there are adjustment stops for that ).. Its important that you position the header onto the windshield WITH the chrome already on and the chrome lacthes in place so there is good math there.. The man putting the cloth on might want to move the header forward or back depending on the weatherstrip position as it sits atop the chrome... careful not to scratch the chrome.. use towels.

Thanks Tom. I also found this site with some info on fold down seats, in case someone else gets this itch. I had one in my first convertible and found myself really missing the usefulness of this rear option for our 67's.

Will snap pics as I progress with this part of my project.
Thanks again guys, Dave

I know with my top they had issues with the frame. The frame was original to the car but had hung in storage from the rafters of a garage. One of the rail pieces was slightly bent. After windows were all aligned the rail would not sit proper in one location. The bent rail was removed, heated, aligned, painted, reinstalled. Also be sure when the top material is put on that the top is tight. Mine had to go back twice for adjustment. The top needs to fit tight, don't let someone tell you to let it sit in the sun and it will tighten up.
