I am starting a thread here to capture Misc inspection markings that we find when we are restoring our 1967 cars. To work effectively everyone that finds what they believe to be a real factory mark of some type please simply post a photo so we can compare and discuss.

Eventually we may be able to track variations.

Looking for:

Paint markings - color codes, check, Torque, believed paint blobs where the intent was to indicate someting, ect..

Metal Stampings, run numbers, ect...

Crayon markings, firewall markings, frame markings

Tags and labels, All types. You find them post them up here.

Thanks! Big Grin

Here is a white X on the underside of the car. This is on the drivers side. It is right next to the clip and may indicate a problem that needed to be corrected.

Fuel filler neck. Blue check and a splash of white

Update 12-2-09- After looking at the assembly manual I suspect that these paint marks have sometinng to do with the approval of the tank pressure test.

Steering wheel reinforcement bars after chemical de-rusting.

White mark on one bar and yellow mark on the other.

Update 12-2-09 What I called a Yellow mark was actually orange! Looking at the photo it does look orange. According to the factory assembly manual sheet A-3 the support bars were marked and specified as "white and Orange" I am assuming for ease of assembly identification.

Mystery solved? I think so.

The top view is just real freaky ghost remains of the original pinstripe after stripping but the second is the valance mark and on the firewal you can barely make out " TOP OK " in orange grease crayon.. Both my Pacers had this as all convertibles would I suspect...

Tom,

Good pictures! I too have an old 35mm of one of our quarter panel stripes too. When I find it I will scan it and post it up.

Do you have a better photo of the "top ok"??

Thanks!

I may as well post what I've got (digital photos) on the IPC.

This is the "stamping" on the rear window.
