The factory used a small piece of tape with a 2 letter code on it ( on m/c bail wire ) to determine the type of brakes used on the car. My question is does anyone have an original piece to give me the size of the tape and size of the letters ? I want to get a stamper made up to replicate this. Thanks ,EDV.

Awesome.. A piece I have never thought about yet! First you have to figure out the letters needed.. confused

I have one off something at home I can try to find. I think its a plastic feeling tape thats folded over around the bail wire? Red letters? Its very simular to the ones they put around wiring harnesses in material ( not looks )I think

Great topic

I believe mine would be coded RC . Non power , all drums. I've seen this in some magazines on cars with the same set up . I just dont know the size of the tape and letters. I was hoping somebody would have reproduced these by now. EDV.

I'll look soon as I can. Is this the pull code that would be on the build sheets?

Master cylinder bail tags are easy - just create them in Word with a red font, print them on Avery label paper, trim, and install. Photo below is my '67 Corvette ("YA" tag).

The originals Ive seen in magazines and such show the letters going across the width of the tape though , like on the coil springs. EDV.

Unbelievable as it may seem.. This old tag is plastic clear coated just like the stuff in my P-Touch lable maker! I believe I took this tag off a 1967 Camaro with drums but cannot swear to it...It was in the same envelope as all the other tags I harvested off that car so confused When time allows I'll see if I can swing the font around and thin it out Big Grin

Would it be too obvious that the code I need would be the master cylinders stamping of "WT" ?
