Well guys hopefully this will make your day:

I hoped to break this here first but the cat was let out of the bag at Camaros.net.

I have had the '67 prototype/repro pad in my hands. It was created from my mint original '67 pad. The black has been in production for a few months now. The '67 bright blue pad will be in production ASAP. Maybe a few weeks...or sooner. I let the guys at Al Knoch's know today that their bright blue color sample is dead on. We will match the red in the next week or two. I am trying to locate original examples of the light blue, gold and turquoise pads so that these can be matched as well. Al and I have talked about reproing the metal substrate for the '67 and it may very well happen. I will check into the status when I am there. Sending in your original metal substrate is an option. I had this done for mine.

He would very much like to reproduce the '69 but a mint or NOS original is needed. I have feelers out, but if anyone here has a perfect original example it can be easily done.

Al has many of the '67 items in the works as we speak, improvements to their current items and new reproductions as well. I live in the same town as the factory and have been trying to help them in their quest to improve the '67-'69 Camaro items.

Feel free to PM or email me at txrsss@msn.com

BTW Tom has had the Knoch pad in his hands as well. He has also seen the sample of the bright blue ABS.

It a bummer that the economy ang enthusiasm are both down because Mike really really went full effort on this and a few other projects to be announced.. Mikes been the most demanding and anal Camaro theorist there is since I met him a decade ago. He will take something close and critique why its wrong no matter how close it is.. Its like OCD or something and the end benifit is that we end up with answers AND better products. Mike and I ( and others like Phil and David and Steve E ) have mailed samples etc of a dozen different things all over Gods creation to see first hand whats what.. Mike has burned his brain finding existing products and colors to come as close as possible and this dash shows it!

Mike sent me the prototype to test fit into my car and with just two little tweaks I have absolutely no reservation telling all that this is the best dash ever made. period

I'm sure the battle about color and hue and tint and grain will forever rage but I personally have two of these cars and have had a dozen bright blue dash pads. This is the color and is easily within the GM spec of the day

Mike.. your a great guy for taking the time. I thank you and will be buying one of these dash pads.

Mike was forever sending samples and sacrificing original items to make molds etc

Here is a pix of test fitting the prototype to untouched car with original window trims

Dedication by both of you is what helps to keep these cars alive. The Camaro pace cars live on, and the history lives on.

I would like to remind people reading this that I bought all the repro dash pads a few years ago and each one had a major issue be it that they were so thick at the windshield moldings that the molding would not screw in ..to being the same color as the upholstry or being so flimsy and poorly wrapped it was not worth installing

Also please do not confuse a 67 standard ( not deluxe) blue interiors dash pad. That one seems to have been a much lighter color

Well..We are all big boys so I'll be honest.. Every original I've ever seen, owned or have vintage pictures of is this darker blue. The only NOS I've seen were both brighter like heading towards the seat upholstry color.. I am confident that the replacement NOS which is what you and Rossi have was somehow interpreted off the seat upholstry color samples and thus were made that color. I am confident this is true because Rossis was a red dash when new that was color dyed by GM for resale etc.

It really doesn't matter now anyway because you can crack that dusty wallet of yours open and get this new dash Wink
