Hi Guys,
Here is a 67 Pace Car going up for auction at Mecum. It belonged to Bob McDorman. It is a 396 375hp Pacer too. Nice! I was wondering if we knew about this Pacer and if it was in the registry?
Here is the link:

IF This is the same car I am thinking it is.. then it doesn't have a dash. Its a black noser.

A damn nice black noser roll

It is a car I sold to McDorman about 10 years ago. He added the decals and changed the stripes to bright blue. I checked the VIN from the auction site. It is a legit 4K car. A lot of work to get it right. Try finding an orginal 3910 carb not one of today's restamps

Was it originally Irmine White with a Blue interior? What was the VIN on this Camaro?

Brad! You owned and restored this car! ?

That would explain the correctness

Yes - It was Ermine White with Bright Blue Interior. Although when I got the car the seats had been dyed black, taking the seat backs off showed a nice blue. It had all the right codes on the trim tag for a Pace Car. Can't remember the VIN off the top of my head, something like 221183. I checked with Mecum when the auction was announced, VIN is my VIN. Something about the black nose grows on you after a while. McDorman wanted a Pace Car.

Brad,
Are you saying that Bob McDorman wanted a true 67 Pacr Car or one that looked very much like one? It didn't have a fleet code or "dash" on the trim tag did it? It would be an awesome Camaro even in Pace Car colors with a black nose stripe! Wink Tony H would probably have liked to seen this Camaro. He was always looking for a Blue Topper though! A Blue Topper Pacer would be insane to own. Especially if it was a 375hp!

Brad you don't happen to have a picture of the trim tag do you?

The 67 is very nice. His Z11 has nice options but needs some work. I was expecting his 69 to be a little nicer.

Good questions! Also, is the trim tag authentic?

I'd have to check but I think I have a picture of this somewhere as a black noser, no decals from back when Brad had it.

Hello
I went to the sale and wanted info before I went and ran across this website. Great place!

The car sold for 88,000 and was very nice. You could see the numbers on the block matched and it was beautiful. The passenger side door for some reason wasnt shutting right. The vin mentioned before is correct as far as I remember.
The tag read 732-z c-1
2LGR, 3SL, 4K, 5Y, WITH NO DASH. That is one thing I picked up on after visiting here.

I loved the 2002 ZL-1 Car. What a sound it had. You could hear it idle clear across the lot. It brought 97,000. Cheap compared to others I looked up.

Just got back. Have received a lot of questions about the car

Trim Tag is as follows :

05C R
ST6712667NOR120966
TR 732Z C 1 PNT
2LGR 3SL
4K 5Y

Engine #'s T0505MQ 7N221183
Engine Casting 3902406 D217
Cylinder Heads 3904391 C157, C137
Transmission P7D24 7N221183
Starter 1107365 7D21
Alternator 1100693 7 D19
Distributor 1111170 7 C 15
Carburetor 3916143-CT List 3910 724
I can't find the rear info. But it was dated right also, Believe 3:73. Remember I had to find a square traction bar to replace the added bars.
Car was sold new from City Chevrolet in Akron OH. Sold as a pace car. Had black nose black pin stripes, and black tail panel. Owner remembers tach & guages. Could not remember AM or AM/FM

I did not know it was supposed to be a black nosed car when I bought it back in 1988 or 1989. As far as I know it was coded for a Pace car and for 375 engine. Wish I had asked more questions of the original owner. From this site's interest, it was presented and sold as a Pace Car to the original owner. Owner thought it was special ordered for a promotion Bardahl Oil had done. He bought it late in the year.

I do not have the Protecto-Plate. trim tag is absolutely original. Car was raced. On the inside of the lower valence was written 588 S-S which I did not put back on - Written upside down. Also, I did not install the rear speaker. Wiring was there and I gave an original speaker with car when it was sold. Unusual option and why I asked the original owner if it was AM or AM/FM.
And somewhere I have the code for the tach - think it was KA code. Also original and not repo.

Brad ,

Thanks for sharing the cars information.

As most are aware we do run a 67 IPC registry.

But most may not be aware we also run a list of cars also built close to the pace cars which are similar to the pace cars but had a black stripe instead of the blue stripe.

We are currently trying to determine if these black nose cars were ever sold new with incorrect blue stripes fitted by dealers and passed off as pace cars.

This cars info will be enjoyed by many here as well as our member here who runs the black nose list , I am sure he may be interested in all the details you have supplied.
