Do we know how many Blue Topper Pace Cars there are or were?
Were those special Pace Cars for only upper management in GM?

I couldn't find the other thread on Blue Toppers so I decided to create this one. My memory is fading me. Wink

Here's the breakdown Tom!!

There should be a total of 10 Blue Top Camaro Super Sports used by the 10 Top Indy Metro Area Zone Managers and another batch "7 or 8" Blue Top Pace Car Replicas that were to be used for just the visiting Brass from the Central Office.

I also feel we will find a number of other Blue Top, Pace Car like( RS only and SS ) replicas similar to the Zone Manager's cars delivered to that region....
The reason for this is simple..... The Pace Car program in 1967 was a local Indianapolis Zone under taking that was backed, in full, by the Central Office...... And!!! according to the surviving Zone managers that I spoke to..... If it was up to the way they wanted the Pace Car to look like...... It would of had a Blue Top!!

Thanks Tony for the refresher course. Even in the Pace Car sector, it would seem having a Blue Topper Pacer would be pretty special not to mention one unique looking Pace Car. I love those Blue Top Pacers!!! Big Grin

How many are in the Pace Car Trust Registery?
Anyone know? Are there any restored examples out there living surviving among us?

We currently have 3, Tom is correct, but We have been only recently tracking them, and not as diligent as say an 0-1 or C-1 car. I have no reason to dispute the amount Tony has suggested and believe we have yet to find them and with the years passing may not find them. The ones we've found fit a certain build date range in a much more specific time frame than the pacers were. I'd say we are more open to admitting they exist, just haven't found them.

From the last copy I received of the registry there are 3 0-4 cars listed but one of them is NOT an 0-4 Car....It's a C-4 car instead.... Tom.... maybe hard to remember our conversation from so many months ago at the Ventura Pier.... if you do....... I pointed out which C-4 car it was..... David You know which one it is as well! It's on your side of the border!!

My wife is almost demanding I put a blue top on ours (like that’s going make me do it) because that what it had when we bought it (1983) and you can see how good it looks with it! But you say it should be an O-4 or C-4? Heck might do it anyway? Wonder what color that top is?

If I had a decent sample of the actual color I'd opt to call down to Texas to Al Knoch. Mike Rossi has been working with this guy on a lot of better resto stuff. One of the things is a dated correct clear plastic window stamp and correct weight fabric! Before you buy any interior stuff I'd speak with Mike.. Carpet, door panels, tops, dash pads etc.. are all soon to improve DRAMATICALLY.... seriously checkered flag

I am

Tom,

Glad Rossi is doing this that means when I jump back into 708 all the good repros for the interior will be ready and waiting. Cheers

I am not a big fan of tubbed Camaro's, but I am a big fan of Blue Topper Pace Cars and this big block Blue Topper Camaro gave me a serious woody!

Tony,
There used to be another "Blue Topper" thread and it disappeared. I think this Camaro was on that thread. I wished I knew more about this Camaro too. I got wood as soon as I saw it!:-) It would be nice if it is what it really is! Eeker
I like it, I want it, I need one!:-)

Is the Blue Top in the vintage picture really that Blue or is the color enhanced? It seems the Blue Tops I see on most Camaro's are kind of a light Blue rather than a Bright Blue like in the vintage picture. I prefer the Bright Blue look over the lighter Blue. The Medium Blue swatch for Convertible tops in my Dealer Album looks like a light Blue, but did they make a Bright Blue for the Pace Cars to stand out?

Tony do you have any input on this? You are the Blue Topper Guru around here! Wink
