I recently purchased a 1967 camaro SS RS 396 4 SPEED. After getting iy home I was doing some decoding and ran into some different numbers.

I emailed CRG and they said it is a fleet number indicating 67 Indy pace car.

I was just looking for a nice car and may have stumbled on a nice find.

It was a 1 owner car bought in texas. I'm looking for some help and guidance. I know nothing about pace cars.

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

Thanks
Dave

Weave. My theory is that the more this site is spreading across the country and more cars will emerge....

How did you find this site? Did the CRG tell you to swing over?

Sappy! Your gonna have to take a much closer look at the Owners Board! about half these babies are all apart and-or rusty! Yours looks super!

Is she solid?
Numbers matching?
Any paperwork?

We love this stuff... fill us in!

You gotta explain to us how someone would sell this car not knowing its pedigree... Most lost ones got recolored paint jobs and blacked out interiors... This one still looks like a Pacer.. Unreal!

Oh no.. absolutely tell us all there is to tell.
Download the Owners Board apllications and fill them out
Look for all paperwork and if you didn't get any make a valiant effort to get back to the people and get those docs!

Good for you.. A killer find

Whoa! Eeker Nice Pacer Dave! It still looks like it is in pretty good condition. It has the same hubs caps that my Camaro came with. Interesting!

Cool story Dave. I love stories like this and how people come across rare Camaro's. Have you had a chance to look over the Pacer yet? How is the drive train? Is it the original engine, tranny and rearend?

Yes, more pic when you get the chance. I could look at these 67's all day long. Some of us are not 67 Pace Car owners, such as myself, but we love the 67 Camaro.

Nice looking 69 RS Camaro Dave.

Merle said he and a friend went to the dealership and the car had just rolled in and was being out on the showroom floor. He inquired and was told initially the car wasn't for sale. Teh salesman advised it was a display car for a new Chevy promo. Merle said he stayed persistent and they ended up charging him a fee. I dont recall what the mechanic said but it was some sort of a special fee he agreed to pay to get the car. That fee was above and beyond the invoice price.

Dave,
You have to re-size your photo's before dowloading them on the website. If you open it in a "Paint" or whatever photo editor you have you can reduce the original photo size down to around 150 kb. Then try to load it on the website. It should work then. Digital camera's take large photo's, so they need to be re-sized first. Most websites have a size restriction.

Welcome,Dave. Wow!! What a nice find! Congratulations. Hang onto it if you can. If you've always wanted a convertible, you likely will not find another one in the same class. If it was a good deal,(and I don't need to know the details),all the more reason to keep it! This advice, along with a dollar, will buy a cup of coffee at most places. Smiler This is coming from someone that got the permanent lay-off notice about my job a couple of months ago. (and I'm keeping my Pacer!) Good luck and once again,Welcome, Andy V
