Yours looks the same as ours in the photo. You can see the tar on the edges in the trunk photo but no jute (white) around the edges.

What I know is that the stuff you can buy from Repops isn't correct and its coverd in sand and it undesireable to me so anything better than that or home made has got to be preferable.. also: I think the tar bleeds through the paper on originals so it looks very different from when it was new..

In 2005 I removed the interior of my 67 black 30,000 mile coupe I have had since 1974, looking for a build sheet, which I never found. Did not remove the headliner, as it is perfect. All the floor sound deadeners were oozing brown oil, and were crystalized into a solid hard piece, no flexibility left in them. Removed all of them, and put all the pieces in a box somewhere. Replaced them with the ones from Repops, even though I was greatly displeased with how the Repops looked and the thickness. The one good thing about the ones from Repops is they will not retain water either. In another thread here at the site, the process is discussed how the original sound deadeners were put in place before the car was painted, and after the painting was done, the car went into a baking area, and the floor sound deadener was melted into place. No aftermarket process is going to come close to matching the original process, at least none I can think of. Though if anyone can come close to replicating it, it will be Phil.

There are two versions of underfloor insulation available. One that is mentioned above with the sand which is far from correct , as well as what they say is "like OEM". It Should be available from most parts sellers.

There are lots of pads out there.. Q-pads come to mind and all that stereo shop and pro-tour stuff too.. I think getting the texture, thickness and color right are the key..

Great work Phil. For guys who have their cars together or those working on them, even those who aren't doing anything with their car currently, seeing the work you've done is an inspiration to all. Keep sharing please.
