Bob Martin calls it a disease and I think I'm starting to understand. Eeker I've been looking for a 6 speed 30th Anniversary SS convertible for the last year and haven't had much luck finding one. During this same time, a lot of Brickyards Camaros from the different years have popped up for sale. I couldn't help but look at them too. Well, after bidding unsuccessfully on several of the 35th Anniversary LE Brickyard Festival Cars, I came across an ad for a white 2000 Camaro SS convertible. The pictures showed it had a black top and interior just like the cars used in 2000 and when I saw the VIN, I thought thats close to the Brickyards that year. I compared the number to other cars I've found in the past and sure enough, it was in a couple hundred digit space between several of the cars. To my surprise, when I went back to the ad, I read the description and found that the seller said it had been used at Brickyard 400.
I called the dealer and was told the car was a one owner vehicle and very clean. He said the dealership sold the car new and buyer had them remove the graphics before delivery. Last fall, the original owner traded the car back in to them. I went and looked at it and rest is history. Here are some photos.

I called Graphik Concepts to check on the availability of the graphics before I went to look at the car. They verified the car by it's VIN and told me the graphics were on hand. After I bought the car, I called them back to confirm I wanted to buy a complete set and inquired about if they would install them. They answered yes and gave me a price for the total installation. I highly recommend them to anybody who is thinking about having this done.

Give me some time today to get the car cleaned back up from the trip to Detroit and I'll post pictures of the car after the graphics were reinstalled.

Big Grin Lee, you must have a 6th sense for Brickyard Camaros. You called me while I standing at the counter paying for the installation. It couldn't have been more than ten minutes after they finished installing the graphics.

Nice car Peter! What number is it? Did they have the plate? Cool that its the opposite of your other one with a white top and white interior.
You know have two cars that were at Y2K!

I had fun looking at the Gold 98 with you.

Here are a few photos showing the installation process. All the locating was done from pictures taken at the track in 2000. Everything was laidout before any of the graphics were actually applied.

They told me the bowtie on the hood was the hardest graphic to install. Maybe thats why 2000 was the only year to use them.

The stripes were probably the most time consuming decal. They were two pieces and they were located by using the door handles, front wheel openings and the gas door.

The Chevrolet graphic on the lower section of the doors.

The last decal installed were the 2000 Brickyard 400 emblem.

Here's the finished product.

As I watched the installation take place, I could believe how adding a few graphics could change the complete image of the car. To me, it doesn't seem the same car. Big Grin

Funny you say that Jim. The temperature was around 100 degrees when I took that picture yesterday afternoon.

Lee, I don't know the track number yet. I asked the dealer if any documentation came with the car when he bought it from the auction in Indianapolis after the race. He didn't remember, but said he would ask the original owner. I haven't heard anything back as of this time. I'm going to have to get a hold of Howard to find out if he may have the plate or a plate. Ten years down the road I don't think I can be to picky. Big Grin

Did you ask Graphik Concepts the car number? They had the track number for both my cars especially since they check by VIN.

I did when they verified the car, but Marilyn said she wasn't sure if the numbers on her list were the same as the track numbers. She thought the Graphik Concepts numbers came from being the 27th car decaled, so I really don't know for sure.
