These two cars are separated by 18 VIN's and 4 body numbers... RS April 2011 (ebay) 124677N204728 04A C-4 12467NOR104462 732-Z 327 powerglide W 2MG 3L 5Y R RS Ian’s old car (Ebay, June 2008) 124677N204710 04A C-4 12667NOR105458 732-Z 327 powerglide WD 2MGR 3SL 5B R Seeing this it's quite possible there could have been 3 C-4's between these 2 cars like they would often do (run similar car's sequentially when they started the Fisher body line), then spaced out more when then entered the GM side of the plant in the separate staging lanes and then locked 18 VIN's apart on the final (GM) assembly line. I suspect we'll keep finding similar equipped (black nose) C-4's (base, RS, and RS/SS's) that could have been ordered by various dealerships to be in-line with the pace car and pacesetter themes or possibly ordered and used in various fashions by the Indy and surrounding zone offices throughout 03C to 06C and possibly even later. It can also be argued that these cars are just coincidnce seeign that they are also scattered earlier in the model year. These cars around Indy make me think twice though. We need to find out what dealership the car was sold at, as we know Ian's car was purchased as a "demo" at Ridgeway Chevrolet in Lansing Illinois which is close to or part of the Indy dealer zone. This message has been edited. I've emailed the owner on Ebay to see if he knows what dealership the car came from and if he has any history... Rick Hexemer

I tlked to the owner (John) today. A very nice gentlemen that has a car restoration business. This was his dad's car and they've owned it since 1974. The car orignally had manual drum brakes with MAG Wheel Hubcaps, and power steering. John thinks they ran into a blue nose strip when they were sanding the car years ago when it was repainted! John is looking for some old shots of the car before he restored it. He remembers the original owner, but is having trouble tracking him down. He thinks the original owner might have mentioned something about a pace car or something of that nature.... I told him to keep the car and that's what he might do as he was just trying to clear up some space for another car. He will probably be happy selling another car instead of this one and trying to gather some history on it to see if anything comes up. Either way, no big deal as he enjoys the car and it was his Dad's that passed away 4 years ago, so I'm sure it has some sentimental value. Rick Hexemer

I would have dismissed the car had it not had an Indy tie.. Now being a few body numbers off the other?? I don't think its a stretch to say these rigs are no coincidence,, the fact remains that Bill is absolutely right that its no Pacecar.. but its gonna be some type of attempt to jump on a low priced band wagon at the time... The operative word being " low priced ". I was hoping it could be had for a decent price and fixed up as original.. Its not an " I hit paydirt " car It could very well prove to be something cool..Its very well documented that they gave look-a-like cars away... thats all tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)
