There have been a few discussions about door jamb VIN tag rivets and wether or not round are acceptable over the rossette
style . I thought this should be a new, fresh and highlighted topic in this section. I for one have seen the round ones often
and on cars that nobody cared to fake. Any pictures elude me now but I have my eye out .I'm not for or against either version. I just want to know the skinny
as do others.

This page from the 67 Assembly manual is a Pro & a Con
The Pro rossette side is that only one style rivet and rivet
part number is shown
The Con is that nowhere on the sheet does it mention any Federally mandated or "must" statements
and has zero updates or revisions in that section. But I suppose thats a knife that cuts both ways

The correct rivet is obviously the rosette. There are numerous examples when running low where one rivet was round and one
rosette. This is not problem and definitely a factory occurrence. If a car shows up with 2 round rivets, time to start checking
the hidden vins and see if they match start looking for evidence that the cowl panel was replaced with the current one.
The simple fact of the matter is; Do you really think that they would risk getting cars out the door for a rivet or two? Or
for that matter an alternator that was in the back of the bin? IMHO

Well.... Like I mentioned earlier in this string, Dawn's blue topper has two round rivets which look original and both hidden
VIN's match. I've got pictures of another week of 06C plain jane coupe made close to hers which has one round rivet and one
rossette style. Its a real mystery to me! I wish I could see the VIN tags on the big block Canadian festival/GP cars as
a few of the later ones are really close on the assembly line/VIN numbers....

I would be very curious to see that tag if you do not mind PM'ing me a pic of it. I have yet to see a factory tag with two
round rivets. I have seen some that were original to the car and removed and replaced for various reason though that were
not rebody or anything of the like.
Yet another round top and rosette bottom. Anyone know of any round bottoms with rosette tops or was there perhaps a method
to the madness when this was done?
