Preserve or reproduce the "3" ( I'd preserve it!).. I think its from the factory although not sure.. but one way or the other it has something to do with the car DURING its famed Indy 500 involvement tom @ camaropacecars.com ( remove the space between m,@,c)

So far all the sheet metal looks good except trunk pan. I plan on have the body media blasted. Then I will know what I have to do. The carpet is faded and smells bad. The seats and door panel look good. Dash pad and steering wheel are cracked.

Yes INDY, Tom (especially) and these other members” know their stuff” and are very helpful! And searching through previous post will also provide you with TONs of information! GOOD LUCK!

Regarding the 3 on the firewall, I agree with TM, preserve it...some of these marks can never be reproduced, only original once....leave some patina brother! Also, I disassembled a 67 RS Convertible years ago and cataloged all the fasteners from the front end disassemble, down to the head markings, the direction the fasteners faced, and pictures.

Call me crazy, but I would leave the trim tag and area around it original too, the white paint and overspray says it all....nothing better than an original paint trim tag. Leave a little rust and dirt!
